Why does this Tenant Improvement Cost So Much?

I'm often asked questions like this in the early phases of a tenant improvement. The client has many questions during early phases of an office relocation, and they normally would prefer to pin down the cost question quickly, so they can make a decision whether to move forward.

Green Remodeling Tips

One trend that is achieving prominence these days is to not only remodel your home, but to do it in such a way that it is sustainable.  So here are some green remodeling tips.

First off, consider what you have to work with.  So many times people think that they have to add a room to get the sort of space that they need, however, sometimes, something as simple as using your existing floor plan and simply adjusting it a bit to better fit your needs can reallocate your space more effectively.  Can you work with what space you have? Green design involves using environmental principles such as reduce, reuse, and recycle. Why not recycle your living space?

Home Remodeling and Natural Light

One of the biggest problems that most modern homes have is their use of electricity.  While switching to LED bulbs and compact fluorescent lights can help, sometimes, adding a skylight or a window can help to reduce your carbon footprint, reduce your electrical use, and incorporate natural light into your design as well.  If you get the right sort of skylights and windows it will not even add to your energy bill.  When in doubt, consult an architect that does home remodeling.  He or she can help you with placement of the windows and skylights to help you get light without it being overpowering or not getting enough light to a room. And using light effectively is one of the greatest tricks an architect can perform.  Natural light, when properly placed not only illuminates a room, it highlights it. For example, let’s say you have an amber colored wall. The use of a window or a skylight on this surface can reflect light into the rest of the room, and give it an almost homey sepia touch.

So remember, sustainability is all about the choices you make.  You want to reduce your carbon footprint, as well as take what you have and make it better.  And you want the advice of a professional whenever possible.  The perfect consultant for any project of this sort is your local custom home remodeling architect.
